International Mother Language Day at the Republican Party of Armenia

In 1999, UNESCO proclaimed February 21 as the International Mother Language Day to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and promote multilingualism.
On the occasion of the Day of Yerevan Council of the Youth Organization of the Republican Party of Armenia organized a meeting with the State Language Inspectorate of the RA Marine Hovyan and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Vahan Zakaryan. They made a contentious discussion on the topic "Armenian Language Today".
The speakers also touched upon the problem of the misuse of the literary language used at different educational institutions as well as in the media, sometimes even misinterpretation, mistakes in the translations of literature from foreign languages and a number of other problematic topics.
