RPA PROGRAM

  • The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is a national conservative party. The objectives and activities of the RPA stem from the ideas of the eternity of the Nation and Fatherland. The cradle of Armenian people is the Armenian plateau, which is the irreplaceable Fatherland of Armenians.
  • The supreme purpose of the Armenian Nation, which is the evaluation of its existence, is the everlasting existence in the fatherland, assertion of its vital force, creative genius and free will. The main guarantee for the achievement of this purpose is the Armenian national ideology in which the theory of Garegin Nzhdeh has its substantial place.
  • Any nation, which acknowledges its mission, formulates its system of values, aims and wishes on the assumption its perception of the world, outlines the strategy of its survival, the theorized wholeness of which is presented as an ideology of a given nation. The Armenian national ideology is built on the basis of combination of the Armenian value system and historical-cultural experience in conjunction with the national and all-human values. It must strengthen the credence of Armenian people in their own power and in the future and must be permanently developed as an ideological system.
  • We believe that there is an established system of mores that have been given to the humans by God, that it is a sacred duty of both an individual and society to follow them.
  • Cultural convergence (but not merger) of nations, scientific, technological and economic unification (and not isolation), i.e. spiritual/cultural distinctiveness and civilizational commonality – this is how we understand the natural order of the world, and this is our perception of the national and universal.
  • By God's will, we were created Armenians and therefore the eternal contact between God and the Armenian nation is ensured by the perpetuation of the Armenian type. On this basis, the RPA highly values the heathen and Christian periods of our history on the principle of national priority.
  • Highly valuing the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the spiritual life of Armenian people, in the retention of Armenian language and culture, and, thus in the retention of the unity of the Armenian nation, the RPA regards the Church as an integral part of the Armenian essence, a national worldwide entity which is appealed to serve the Nation and God with its creed and dedication.
  • We follow conservatism since it is understood as preservation of the mores positively appraised and historically vindicated by the humankind. It is a validation of the eternal, but not of anything old. It guards not the past, but the timeless, i.e. everything valuable that has been created in the past and will be created in future. In this sense conservatism is not only about reverence of the past, but also aspiration for the future, because it believes in continuity of the history and linkage between the times, and through this, it looks forward to constantly creating eternal values.
  • Conservatism rejects revolutionism, because the latter disrupts the natural course of the societal life development. According to it, conservatism’s objective is to prevent revolutionary situations through reforms.
  • Conservatism is a reliable ideological base both for maintaining our spiritual/cultural distinctiveness and staying tuned to the developments in the world.
  • The RPA builds its relations with public and political forces and individuals acting in the Armenian present reality on the principle of the priority of the national and state interests which the RPA deems higher than any personal and other individual interests.
  • The RPA takes the following approach to the general principles of the state activity:
  • The Armenian state is the main and most effective means to attain goals and objectives of Armenian people.
  • Strengthening of the state is the only guarantee that will ensure development and eternity of our people, well-being of citizens, protection of our borders, our role and place in the international arena.
