On May 19, at the opening of the four-day sittings of the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan made a statement which read:

“Dear colleagues, today is the Pontian Greek Genocide Remembrance Day. The Greeks of the whole world incense the memory of their compatriots who have been massacred in Ottoman Turkey, in Smyrna and in Pontus, on the shores of the Black Sea.

Let me remind you that last year the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted a statement by which condemned the genocide perpetrated against Greeks and Assyrians by Ottoman Turkey.

For solidarity with the Greek people and our Greek counterparts I propose you in one-minute silence to honour the memory of the Greek martyrs who were exterminated.”
