Galust Sahakyan Takes Part in the Opening of the Monument Dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial

20.04.2015

On April 20 in Parakar community of Armavir the RA NA Speaker Marz Galust Sahakyan took part in the opening of the monument dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial. The Minister of the Territorial Management and Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan and the Governor of Armavir Ashot Ghahramanyan also attended the ceremony.

The day was symbolic for Parakar residents, as in that community came to reside the survivors from the Turkish yataghan /dagger/ decades ago.

The cross-stone carved in Hoktemberyan’s red tufa symbolizes the Armenians’ revival, and is the next appeal to the progressive humanity to recognize and condemn the Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire.

His Grace Bishop Sion Adamyan, Primate of the Diocese of Armavir in Armenia anointed the monument and prayed with frankincense to God. The RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan laid flowers and a wreath at the monument to the memory of one and a half million innocent victims.

The Head of the Parliament in his remarks has noted that during these days such events are in place in the whole world: today the entire mankind is next to the Armenian people. It is not possible to dispirit people creating great cultural values. In the NA Speaker’s word, in 1915 the humanity was silent, and the year 2015 has shown that we should not keep silence. Today, the whole progressive mankind consolidates around the idea of recognition and condemnation of the Genocide. Now, the Armenian nation is a proud, regenerated nation and is on the way to eternity.
