PRESIDENT RECEIVES HEAD OF COE OFFICE IN YEREVAN ALEXANDER PAVLYUK

 President Serzh Sargsyan today received the Head of the Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan, Alexander Pavlyuk, at the completion of his mission in our country.

On behalf of Armenian authorities and on his own behalf, the President thanked Alexander Pavlyuk for performing creditably and successfully during his tenure and underlined that as a Head of the CoE Office in Armenia, Mr. Pavlyuk had assumed a big responsibility. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that his successor will continue to work with the same devotion and vigor. The Armenian President underscored that Armenia attaches great value to and highly appreciates the CoE efforts to back the democratic reform process in our country. In the President’s words, both before becoming a full-fledged CoE member and today, as a CoE member, Armenia has been utilizing the organization’s professional potential which is of vital importance in terms of bringing our country’s legislation and practice to conformity with European standards and fulfilling Armenia’s special and statutory obligations.

Alexander Pavlyuk too underlined the effectiveness of the cooperation between the office led by him and Armenia and the last two years’ work aimed at implementing the Armenia-CoE Action Plan, noting that with the aim of deepening and strengthening democratic processes, they are discussing the issue of developing a new 2015-2017 Action Plan with the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other related public administrative agencies.

At the meeting, the interlocutors underscored that since becoming a full-fledged CoE member, Armenia, for the first time assuming the presidency of the CoE Committee of Ministers for six months on May 16th of 2013, successfully fulfilled its mission, receiving positive feedback from the CoE leadership.

Serzh Sargsyan said that the effective cooperation between our country and the CoE is also linked to the fact that Armenia’s goals fully coincide with those of the organization.

The President wished Alexander Pavlyuk success in his further activities and expressed the hope that he would leave Armenia with some great memories and would remain friends with Armenia and the Armenian people.
