 The RA NA President Galust Sahakyan awarded RA National Assembly Medals of Honour to Science representatives for their major contribution to science, education and valuable scientific-pedagogical activity on June 10th in the Gilded Hall of the parliament dedicated to the 95th jubilee of the establishment of Yerevan State University (YSU). At the grand ceremony the NA President handed over the RA National Assembly Medals of Honour and the NA President’s Letters of Appreciation.

The Dean of YSU Faculty of Physics, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Sciences, professor, the RA NAS correspondent member Roland Avagyan, the Dean of YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, Candidate of Sciences of Philosophy, Associate Professor Alexan Baghdasaryan, the Dean of YSU Faculty of History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Edik Minasyan, the Dean of YSU Faculty of Economics, Doctor of Economics, Professor Hayk Avagyan, Head of YSU Educational Methodological Department, Candidate of Sciences of Biology, Associate Professor Hrant Zhamharyan were awarded the RA NA Medals of Honour.

The Associate professor of YSU Chair of Optimal Management and Approximate Methods, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Mikayel Poghosyan, Head of YSU Chair of Theology, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Rafik Vardanyan, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor Tariel Ghochikyan, Associate Professor of YSU Chair of Criminal Law, Candidate of Law Anna Margaryan, Professor of YSU Chair of Optics, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Hamlet Karayan were awarded the RA NA President’s Letters of Appreciation.

Congratulating the awarded persons the NA President Galust Sahakyan said:

“Dear attendees, University friends,

I welcome you in the parliament and congratulate you for enjoying the awards of the National Assembly. These medals and letters of appreciation are meant as a humble credit for your dignified work.

Taking the advantage I once again wish to join the numerous congratulations presented today dedicated to the jubilee of Yerevan State University and on your behalf, I wish new successes and achievements to the most merited higher educational institution, its professors, lecturers and students.

95 years ago by the establishment of Yerevan State University in Armenia the modern higher education was launched. I am myself proud to be a graduate of this higher educational institution, and I would like to record with double pride that both during my educational years, and at the present Yerevan State University is genuinely at the heart of higher educational institutions of Armenia, representing a respective leader in providing knowledge, education quality, building highly-qualified experts, professors, and lecturers.

Though Yerevan State University is 95 years old it always seems young to me. This is a respective age, furthermore it is the age which gives an opportunity to strive to the future with youth energy and enterprise , pursue new goals and reach them, because every year the higher educational institution get s filled with students’ energy the way its pulse beats lively and actively.

Dear friends,

I was lucky to have such lecturers, who continue the work of their previous reputable professors' contributions and traditions, as a live memory firmly embedded not only in the memory of the University students, but also the graduates of other higher educational institutions. Those people served as pedagogues, scientists and tutors, lecturers, parents and friends for students at the same time. The number of those professors is endless, and nevertheless, I would like to mention in particular Levon Nersisyan, Benik Yuzbashyan, Mkrtich Mkryan, Haykaz Zhamkochyan, Sahak Bazyan, Hovhannes Barseghyan, Garnik Ananyan, Vazgen Gabrielyan and others. Taking into account the continuing traditions of already more than nine decades of Yerevan State University traditions, I am sure that the present faculty of the higher educational "mother" institution is the decent inheritors of them.

Yerevan State University always strives to rise its ranking to be a permanent leader. I am convinced that at the next anniversary YSU will record greater successes, to which, certainly, you also will continue to have major contribution due to your work, dear friends.

Once again I congratulate all of you and wish you health, welfare, optimism and new effective initiatives.”
