 Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the RA Elita Gavele. The Honorary Council of the Republic of Latvia to the RA Armen Ghasaboghlyan was also present at the meeting.
Greeting the guest Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that the cooperation formed between Yerevan and Riga is really successful and the established friendly relations are a good basis for the implementation of all outlined projects. “The bilateral visits which have become frequent recently give a new stimulus to the development of friendly and partner relations between Yerevan and Riga which are based on the friendship between our countries and our peoples. The relationship between the two capitals are developing and expanding year by year and I am sure that we will be able to put into life all the points provided by the agreement on brotherhood and implement various programs aimed at the welfare of our capitals», said Taron Margaryan.
Expressing gratitude for welcome the Ambassador stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between Yerevan and Riga in her turn expressed willingness to assist within her powers in the issue of interaction expansion. «The cooperation between Yerevan and Riga can really be considered a model. It is on firm basis today and I will do my best within my powers to contribute to the expansion of cooperation frames between the two cities», said Elita Gavele.
Taking into account that Riga has been declared European culture capital of this year the Ambassador discussed with Mayor Taron Margaryan the possibility of organization of a cultural event with the participation of the Latvian party in Yerevan and the Mayor expressed his consent.
