Meeting in the Parliament

On March 21 the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan met with Kristin van der Leest, Gender Adviser of the OSCE/Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights/ODIHR and Oliver McCoy, Head of the OSCE Yerevan Office Democratization Programme Manager.
Kristin van der Leest, Gender Adviser of the OSCE/ODIHR introduced the upcoming programmes of the Office to Mrs Naghdalyan. She has noted that meetings are designed with the members of the RA political parties, consultations with the women politicians: the goal is to study the women’s involvement in the political parties, in parliament, in government and at local self-government bodies.
The NA Deputy Speaker highlighted the meeting of the Armenian and Georgian women parliamentarians to be held at the end of March being organized by the OSCE Yerevan Office.
Mrs Naghdalyan presented the Armenian women’s participation in the public and political life. The Deputy Speaker has noted that today in the National Assembly there are 14 women deputies, who make the 10 per cent of the total number. In Mrs Naghdalyan’s word, the RPA has Women’s Council at central, marz and territorial levels, and today the women’s number in the party has reached about 80.000. Mrs Naghdalyan has mentioned that the women should have their contribution in the political life of the state.
