RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan Receives the Foreign Minister of Serbia

On March 10 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic.

Highly assessing the current level of the political relations of the two countries the RA NA President noted that the Minister’s visit to Armenia would promote the further rapprochement and enlargement of the inter-state relations. He has deemed necessary the development of the inter-parliamentary and has noted that the relations of the parliaments have big potential. Mr Abrahamyan highlighted the mutual visits of the deputies of the two countries' parliaments and the cooperation of the Friendship Groups. In the context of the bilateral cooperation the NA President considered important the boosting of the trade-economic relations with Serbia, to which the Armenian-Serbian Business Forum being held during the Minister’s visit would promote. In Hovik Abrahamyan’s opinion, it would boost the strengthening of business relations, implementation of mutual investments and new projects, as well as outlining of prior new spheres for cooperation.

Ivan Mrkic conveyed the warm greetings and the invitation of the official visit of the President of the Serbian Parliament to Hovik Abrahamyan. He also underlined the necessity of the rapprochement of the inter-parliamentary relations at all levels with respect to the development of the relations of the two countries, reserving big role to the parliamentary diplomacy. To his conviction, it is also necessary to develop the cooperation in the sphere of economy. Both sides emphasized the cooperation in the international organizations,

In the course of the meeting the sides touched upon the regional problems, the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict problem, the issue of the Armenian-Turkish relations and other issues of bilateral interest. The Foreign Minister of Serbia noted that the NK problem should be settled within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group based on the Madrid principles.
