15.07.2013
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited the construction site of the center for the production of radioisotopes and molecular diagnostics, which is being built as part of the program of Oncology Center of Excellence.
The head of government toured the site, inspecting construction work. National Competitiveness Foundation Executive Director Arman Khachatryan gave the details of the first phase of the program of the Armenian Cancer Center of Excellence - construction of a center for the production of radioisotopes and molecular diagnostics.
The center is meant to produce radioactive isotopes necessary for the diagnosis of neoplasms and cancer treatment, building capacity for the provision of integrated radio-pharmaceutical and diagnostic services. The radio-nuclides and pharmaceuticals so produced will be used to carry out biochemical analysis, as well as for image processing purposes.
The program consists of three stages: establishment of a center for the production of radioisotopes-molecular diagnostics, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgical oncology.
As a nationwide center for treatment and prevention of cancer with the use of modern technologies, it will provide services for nuclear diagnostics, radiation medicine, chemical therapy, in-patient and outpatient surgery.
