Social allowance provided for Syrian Armenian families is going on

On the instruction of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan social allowance to needy Syrian Armenian families living in Yerevan is going on.
According to the brief data of the first half of 2013, 850 families got allowance 352 of which only during the last month. Within the framework of various programs Syrian Armenians are shown allowance for social, educational needs, corresponding legal consulting and assistance. As a result the process of complete integration of Syrian Armenians in cultural and public life has become significantly easier.
Medical aid and servicing of needy Syrian Armenian families in medical establishments subordinated to the Municipality are free of charge. Needy people have the opportunity to make use of “Charity kitchens”.
The families with new-born babies are granted baby prams, children's goods and other necessary things by the Municipality.
The head of the Department of Social Welfare of the Municipality Ruzanna Zakaryan informed that special attention is paid to the problem of employment of Syrian Armenians. Due to support of the staffs of the administrative districts 13 Syrian Armenians got jobs. Pointing out that the issues related to Syrian Armenians are at permanent focus of Mayor Taron Margaryan, the head of the Department of Welfare said that Syrian Armenian families are registered in the neediness assessment system and the families with corresponding points are granted family allowance afterwards.
The programs of needy Syrian Armenian family aid will be long lasting. Possibilities of implementation of joint projects with NGOs are being discussed as well
