RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan Receives the Ambassador of Finland to the RA

On May 7 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received Christer Gustav Mikkelson, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the RA.
Welcoming and congratulating the Ambassador on the occasion of the appointment, the NA President expressed conviction that Mr Mikkleson would have big contribution to the development of the Armenian-Finnish inner-state relations. In Hovik Abrahamyan’s word, Armenia highlights the establishment of the multilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Scandinavian region and, particularly, with Finland and welcomes the growing interest of Finland towards the South Caucasus. The NA President noted that our country was concerned about deepening the high level political dialogue with Finland as a friendly country and by activating the inter-parliamentary and economic relations. The Head of the parliament also highlighted the development of the relations with Finland from the perspective of the Armenia-EU cooperation. “We are resolute in continuing the deep and comprehensive reforms in Armenia, and we also observe the democratic reforms being made in our country as an important part of the cooperation with the EU,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.
Thanking for the reception the Ambassador of Finland deemed necessary the further development of bilateral relations in different spheres. He considered important the activation of inter-parliamentary relations, the bilateral contacts and mutual visits. Highly appreciating the Eastern Partnership format and the Association Agreement, the Ambassador underlined the importance of the negotiations over the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, which would boost the EU-Armenia economic cooperation.
In the course of the meeting the sides touched upon the regional problems, the settlement of the NK problem and the Armenian-Turkish relations.
