Students of the State Agricultural College of the Armenian National Agrarian University in the National Assembly

On May 2 the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport of the National Assembly Artak Davtyan met with the students and lecturers of the State Agricultural College of the Armenian National Agrarian University, who visited the parliament within the framework of the “Open Lesson” programme.
Artak Davtyan presented to the young people the structure of the National Assembly, the functions and authorities prescribed by the Constitution, the role and significance of the legislative body in the political and public life of the country. The Committee Chairman detailed the law-making chain: putting the initiatives into circulation, the orders of debating them in the specialized committees, then in the plenary sittings.
The students addressed to Artak Davtyan questions relating to the social, economic spheres concerning the society. Answering the question on the reforms to be made in the upcoming years in the sphere of education, the speaker noted that they would be consonant with the ideas stipulated in the 2011-2015 Education Development State Programme. The amendments will include the spheres from the pre-school period to science: Artak Davtyan distinguished the investment of the general inclusive education in the general educational institutions, the integration into Bologna process in the sphere of higher education and in particular, the application of the crediting system. And in the sphere of science it has been planned to increase the volumes of financing year by year.
Artak Davtyan also answered other issues concerning the attendees.
