On March 22 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan met with the representatives of the NGOs on the problems of the persons with disabilities. The RPA Secretary of the RPA faction Hovhannes Sahakyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming those present Hakob Hakobyan highlighted such debates in terms of improving the legislation and expressed hope that such initiatives would be continuous.

In the course of the meeting the representatives of the NGOs touched upon the provisions of the draft law “On Protection of Rights of the Persons with Disabilities and Their Social Inclusion” and made numerous proposals aimed at the regulation of the sphere.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issue on establishing a Council on the Problems of the Persons with Disabilities adjunct to the President of the RA National Assembly, finding expedient to include in the Council a working group comprised of the NGO representatives on the persons with disabilities.

The NA deputy Hovhannes Sahakyan has assured those present that the problems of the persons with disabilities are permanently in the centre of attention of the NA President and the Standing Committee on Social Affairs.

Hakob Hakobyan has assured that the Committee has focused on recommendations and raised problems, and the admissible recommendations will be included in the draft law.

In the course of the meeting issues concerning the problems of persons with different disabilities were also discussed.
