Representative of the United Russia Party Andrey Klimov Meets with the NA Deputies

On November 12 the Vice President of the National Assembly Hermine Naghdalyan, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan, Volodya Badalyan, Razmik Zohrabyan from the RPA faction and Tigran Urikhanyan, Vahan Babayan and Meruzhan Simonyan from the PAP faction met with Andrey Klimov, the member of the Federal Council of the Russian Federation, Head of the Foreign Relations of the United Russia (Yedinaya Rossiya) Party.

Welcoming the guest the Vice President of the Parliament characterized the dialogue and cooperation between the parties as a good precondition for more strengthening the relations between the two countries and for reaching new results at political and economic levels. According to Hermine Naghdalyan, Armenia observes Russia as a strategic partner, adding that the mutual understanding and compromise should lead the two countries in all relations, especially in international organizations. As Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between Armenia and Russia she touched upon the upcoming actions of the organization, in particular, the agenda items of the session to be scheduled. The speaker deemed effective the level of cooperation of the two countries in that issue, as well as in the issue of security. In Andrey Klimov’s words, Russia highly appreciates the cooperation and dialogue with Armenia, and also the latter’s partnership stances in different international organizations and platforms. Talking about Eurasian Union and economic cooperation, the representative of the United Russia noted about envisaging discussions dedicated to this issue in Brussels, adding that Russia would be guided not only by own interests, but also would defend its strategic partners’ interests.

Tigran Urikhanyan and Artak Zakaryan highly appreciated the cooperation of the United Russia with the two parties. Artak Zakaryan deemed the contacts at the level of parties the most sustainable, also underlined the importance of concerted defending of each other’s interests and of recently successfully cooperating within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy. The Committee Chairman drew the guest’s attention to the regional cooperation, expecting that the existing delicate problems would also enjoy support.

Andrey Klimov in his response confirmed Russia’s big interest in this region.

Considering the inter-party contacts as an important initiative, Tigran Urikhanyan expressed readiness of continuing the efforts and forming new platforms of cooperation.
