 The official delegation headed by the Mayor of Riga Nil Ushakov arrived in Yerevan to participate in "Erebuni-Yerevan 2784" celebration had meeting with the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan.Greeting the guests the Mayor of Yerevan first of all thanked them for accepting the invitation and participating in Yerevan holiday and mentioned that Yerevan is willing to expand the warm and friendly relations formed between Yerevan and Riga and put them on practical grounds. "We welcome the mutually beneficial cooperation with partner cities both in cultural and tourism and business fields. In this regard I can assure you that the Municipality is always ready to support within its powers all the initiatives directed at Yerevan development" said Taron Margaryan.Introducing the system of management of the capital as well as the urban development programs being implemented in Yerevan Taron Margaryan pointed out that the position of the Municipality is to keep the historical features of the city in parallel with modern solutions, and certain steps are being taken to give these approaches legislative definition.Expressing gratitude for warm welcome the Mayor of Riga Nil Ushakov expressed his admiration with the Yerevan day celebration pointing out that he was especially impressed with the active participation of the people in the events.The Mayor of Riga in his turn attached importance to mutually beneficial cooperation especially regarding experience exchange and expressed confidence that in near future the relationship between Yerevan and Riga would become closer and practical. “The problems of capitals are almost the same, and today there are all the preconditions to implement joint programs and exchange experience”, said the Mayor of Riga.Having informed that Riga has been declared Cultural capital of Europe 2014 Nil Ushakov invited the Mayor of the World Book Capital Taron Margaryan to participate in the measures to be arranged on that event.Expressing gratitude for the invitation Mayor Taron Margaryan expressed willingness of the Yerevan party to participate in the events to be arranged in Riga in 2014.
