Vice President of the FRG Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse Visits the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex

On September 30 Wolfgang Thierse, Vice President of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), accompanied with the RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov visited Tsitsernakaberd, 1915 Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and laid a wreath at the monument of the Genocide innocent victims.
The Vice President of the Bundestag, who visited Armenia for the first time, had been to the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, got acquainted with documents ensuring the Armenian Genocide, left a note in the Commemoration Book, mentioning: “We condemn the Genocide and get obligated to establish peace and protect human rights.”
During the talk with journalists Wolfgang Thierse noted: “The German people remember the crimes committed against different nations in the 20th century. In 2005 the Bundestag of Germany by its decision has condemned the Armenian people’s massacres and expressed its stance in relation to those historical events. We believe that such historical events should be worth an assessment and be condemned.”
