 Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Avan Salt Works CJSC to get acquainted with the ongoing inverstment programs aimed at refurbishing and improving the salt production process. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan, Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan, Chief of Government Staff David Sargsyan, a group of MPs and businessmen.

The “Extra” high-quality table salt enrichment unit of Avan Salt Works CJSC was commissioned in 1969. Therefore, to ensure proper product quality and competitiveness standards, the plant needs to be modernized with the latest technologies available in this field. To this end, Avan Salt Works CJSC is cooperating with the Swiss SEP Ltd, a world leader in evaporation and salt crystallization technologies.

As “Extra” high-quality table salt is made from salt water through the vacuum-evaporation method, the Company is also cooperating with the German geological-engineering DEEP Company, which will work out a salt-water production and purification project.

The projects will take some 3-4 years to complete with a total investment volume of about 10 million euro. This will provide Armenia with sustained supply of high-quality and competitive domestic table salt and increased exports within the next 50 years.
