Haikyan Awards Ceremony Was Held

Attended by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Haikyan Awards Ceremony was held today at the headquarters of Armenia’s Youth Foundation in Yerevan. Haikyan awards were presented to those youth and student entities having excelled in different fields of youth policy in 2011. The awards were handed out by the Prime Minister himself.”The most important goal of the contest is to encourage and promote activity and self-organization among the youth. This may raise the overall level of self-organization of our society, which is one of greatest challenges faced in building civil society,” Tigran Sargsyan stated during the ceremony.Congratulating the winners, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that their future efforts will trigger an influx of fresh energy among the Armenian youth.
The Haikyan Awards Ceremony seeks to generate activity and initiative among student self-government bodies, promote research and cross-border cooperation, implement youth policy and so on.
The program of the Ministry of Education and Science as entitled “International Summer Student School in the wake of Bologna of 2010” was awarded in the Best International Youth Program category. The “Konrad Adenuer” German political foundation was mentioned in the Best Youth-Friendly International Entity nomination. The Radio Liberty’s “MaxLiberty” youth program was awarded in the Best Youth Broadcast nomination. The student councils of the Armenian State Pedagogical University and the Armenian Economics University were awarded in the Best Student Self-Government Entity nomination. Prizes were awarded in other categories as well.
