The President of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the RA National Security Council Serzh Sargsyan invited today a session of the National Security Council.

In the framework of the agenda items, the participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the draft of the National Strategy on the Protection of Human Rights. The discussions were attended also by the Ombudsman of Armenia. They also discussed issues pertinent to the conclusion of the military and political phase of the Cooperation-2012 CSTO joint military exercises and to the military and political phase of the staff and command strategic military exercises of the Armenian Armed Forced to be held in October.
Before taking up the agenda items, the President spoke about the elections to the self-governance bodies conducted in Armenia on September 9 and noted with satisfaction that the elections were held in the organized manner, without serious incidents, based on competition, and the Central Electoral Commission has summarized the results. “There were complaints demanding re-tabulation in nine communities, five of them related to the elections of the community leaders, four – related to the elections of the community council members. Re-tabulation took place in the presence of the interested parties with the participation of the members of the electoral commission, however no violations were registered. Besides, checked were also the lists of the voters who are absent from Armenia but allegedly voted in the election. However, the examination didn’t reveal even a single case of such violation.
I would also like to note that those members of the National Security Council, who are not present at the today’s meeting, are on business trips. I am telling this to avoid any speculations tomorrow or even starting tonight,” said the President of Armenia.
