Commemorating the Armenian genocide:Past, present, and future
During World War I, the world witnessed the first genocide of the twentieth century. From 1915 to 1918, 1.5 million Armenians (approximately 50 percent of the Armenian population at that time), along with other minorities living in the Ottoman Empire, were systematically killed by the Ottoman Turks. Armenian Americans hold White House protest urging President Obama to recognize Armenian Genocide
Armenian-Americans from across the Greater Washington, DC area rallied in front of the White House just days before President Obama's annual April 24th remarks, urging him to honor his pledge to properly characterize the murder of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Turkish Government as 'genocide', reports Armenpress citing Armenian National Committee of America. ArmBookExpo Kicks Off In Yerevan
On April 21, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a jubilee event held at Cafesjian Arts Center on the sidelines of “500th Anniversary of Armenian Typography” and “Yerevan World Book Capital – 2012.” projects. ArmBookExpo international exhibition features some 1800 books published in 40 countries relating to Armenia and Armenians.
