“I believe that the common interests of Yerevan can unite you and be above your disagreements. I hope that with the same inspiration you will go on working in this important body of self-government. Remember that Yerevan is the capital and the symbol of Homeland for the Armenians worldwide.
With the elections for the Council of Elders we have summarized the period of elections of 2017.It’s highly important that we have already formed the power expressing the will of our people. It’s time let the electoral passions calm down and be over. It’s time to get down to work. The year of 2018 will be special. Armenians worldwide will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of foundation of the First Republic of Armenia and the heroic May battles. In the same year we will be marking not less important jubilee-the 2800th anniversary of the capital city. The responsibility for proper organization of this jubilee first of all falls on the newly- elected municipal government. Yes, Yerevan is an ancient city but at the same time it is being modernized constantly and updated with new rules of coexistence.
Our goal is to make our centuries-old Yerevan keep pace with modern development. You know that tourism development is one of the priority directions in our economics. Therefore the city should have a modern European look with modern lighting, comfortable sidewalk sand crossings, public areas. We must do eliminate bunches of wires and other defects interfering aesthetical look of the capital, first of all in the center of the city”, stressed President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President of the Republic also noted that Yerevan faces a number of complicated problems finding solutions for which are vital. The problems of transport waste disposal, blocks of flats, elevators system were particularly outlined.
“Let no one think that this goals are unattainable. What we have today might seem unreal some 10 years ago. But together we prove that we can do it, that we can solve the problems facing us”, stressed President Serzh Sargsyan and turning to Yerevan Mayor outlined that the expectations are really great personally from Taron Margaryan.
“You are the son of Andranik Margaryan and one of the leaders of the Republican party. This is a memorable day for you- the birthday of your father and my friend Andranik Margaryan. Today, in the presence of the Catholicos of All Armenians you swore that you will serve faithfully to Yerevan and its residents. You are obliged to work day and night so as the trust and respect of townspeople towards you increase, so that you can keep the position of the public figure having the highest rating in Yerevan, so that on the next elections you can get more votes and carry on leading Yerevan”, stressed Serzh Sargsyan and once again congratulated the Mayor of Yerevan and the members of the Council of Elders wishing them fruitful work for the sake of prosperity of the 12th Armenian capital and the progress of Armenia.
