Four more copies of Khachkars have been placed in the park adjacent to Republic square

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan visited the park in Nalbandyan and Hanrapetutyan streets junction of Main avenue of Yerevan where he familiarized himself with the new Kachkars placed there. Within the frames of another initiative of Yerevan Municipality the public was presented four new copies of Kachkars located in Western Armenia and Old Julfa (Nakhijevan). Introducing the Mayor the works the monuments expert, historian Samvel Karapetyan and historian Argam Ayvazyan said that three originals of the four copies don't exist anymore and the survived Khachkar is in poor condition.
Stressing the importance of this field of Armenian culture Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that it should be presented properly especially as a message aimed at condemnation of cultural genocide. So,taking into account that townspeople and tourists are fond of this area the persons in charge were assigned by the Mayor to provide presence of corresponding specialists in the park particularly at weekends and holidays, who will present the history of the placed Khachkars in details and the craft of Khachkars in general.
