PRESIDENT RECEIVED DELEGATION HEADED BY THE RF MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION MAXIM SOKOLOV

President Serzh Sargsyan received today delegation headed by the Co¬-Chair of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission, the RF Minister of Transportation Maxim Sokolov who has arrived to Armenia to participate at the 5th Conference of the Armenian-Russian inter-regional cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Russian authorities for the expeditious assistance provided to the civilians, who were injured as a result of the accident which took place this morning on the bus travelling from Moscow to Yerevan, as well as for the assistance in the elimination of the consequences of the tragic accident which claimed five lives and left over two dozen injured.
On behalf of his delegation and his own behalf, the RF Minister of Transportation expressed sincere condolences to the families and friends of whose killed in the tragic accident and sent words of support to all wounded.
“As the Minister of Transportation of the Russian Federation, I keep under my person control everything related to the accident; involved are necessary resources from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and others, including the Ministry of Health. At the moment, all injured are in the hospitals of Vladikavkaz and Beslan and their provided with necessary medical assistance. We will do our best to minimize the consequences of the traffic accident,” said Maxim Sokolov.
At the meeting, the parties spoke about the works of the Yerevan Conference of the Armenian-Russian inter-regional cooperation and stressed the importance of the event which brings under one roof representatives of the Armenian and Russian authorities, business and public circles.
Noting that Armenia and Russia are linked by the centuries-long ties of friendship and brotherhood, the President of Armenia noted with satisfaction that the allied interstate relations today are developing steadily on that base and that inter-regional cooperation is in important component of that relations. “Our countries are joined in one economic area, and the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor force creates new opportunities for the invigoration of the bilateral economic relations. To reveal these new opportunities, we are conducting these days the first international conference of the Eurasian partnership. I wish you efficient work for the benefit of our peoples and states,” said President Sargsyan to the participants of the meeting.
The RF Minister of Transportation Maxim Sokolov and governors of the RF regions present in his delegation also praised the decentralized cooperation formed and successfully carried out between Armenia and Russia. They viewed as symbolic the fact that the first international conference of the Eurasian partnership is being held in Armenia. They expressed hope that this format will also become an efficient platform for the integration of the economies and cooperation in all areas.
The participants of the meeting expressed gratitude for hosting the international forum in Yerevan at a high level and for creating all necessary conditions for work.
