PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN RECEIVED THE PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA GIORGI KVIRIKASHVILI

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili who has arrived to Armenia on an official visit. The President of Armenia welcomed the guest to our country and expressed hope that his first official visit to Yerevan will signify the further strengthening of the ties between the two friendly nations and will give a new impetus to the interstate relations. Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits which, according to the President, provide a good opportunity to discuss the items on the Armenian-Georgian agenda in a constructive and warm atmosphere as well as to preset new possibilities for cooperation. Noting that Armenia and Georgia are not only friendly states but also the two peoples linked by the centuries-long brotherly relations, which are cherished in Armenia, the President said that it is necessary to develop and strengthen these relations incessantly. According to the President, the current high level of the political dialogue between the two countries allows to further deepen the bilateral relations in all areas, taking them to a qualitatively new level.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted that he was glad to be in the friendly country. He said that Armenia’s relations with Georgia date back hundreds of years and added that the Georgian people and the Government attach utmost importance to their development. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the existing mutual understanding between the two Governments as well as the dynamics of recent years and active trade and economic relations form an excellent base for the further strengthening of the relations and full utilization of the existing great potential.
In Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s words, strong friendly relations between Armenia and Georgia are important not only for Georgia and Armenia but also for the stability in the South Caucasus. In that context the Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to the President of Armenia for his significant personal contribution to the development of the bilateral relations.
At the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities and potential of expanding cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest.
