PM Hovik Abrahamyan Attends ASEU Board Meeting

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan chaired today the meeting of the Academic Board of the Armenian State Economics University (ASEU).
The meeting first discussed and approved the ASEU strategic development plan for 2016-2020.
In this connection, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the University has been reformed considerably: several key projects have been carried out, including refurbishment and modernization, welfare programs implemented, academic curricula amended, international cooperation bolstered. The ASEU has strengthened its cooperation with the labor market, which is very much appreciated by the Government of Armenia.
According to the Head of Government, while deemed to be of paramount importance, the educational reform should focus on the quality and efficiency of education. The vocational training system reform is high on the Government’s agenda. In this context, the Premier said that the University has embarked upon an ambitious development plan, and it should do everything to live up to the task.
“The educational system should be sensitive and quick-responsive to those new challenges awaiting us ahead,” the Prime Minister said adding that all necessary prerequisites have been created to overhaul the University and bring it to a new level of development.
Then the rector of the Armenian State Economics University of Economics was elected mediating a secret ballot. Koryun Atoyan was elected to the rector’s post. In conclusion, the meeting approved a set of structural changes implying the merger of a number of departments.
