Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the Ambassador of Iran to Armenia

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) to the RA Seyyed Kazem Sajjad. Greeting the Ambassador, the Mayor congratulated him on starting his diplomatic mission in or country and expressed hope that the established friendly relations between Yerevan and the cities of Iran will go on developing and being of business character.
"Taking into account the high level of Armenian-Iranian relationship we attach particular importance to strengthening and expansion of interaction between the bodies of self-government. In this issue your role and the role of the Ambassador of Armenia to IRI are very important. The relations between Yerevan and its partner-cities of Iran are friendly and the cooperation of the bodies of self-government is effective. So, we are ready to establish similar ties with the capital of Iran-Tehran", said Taron Margaryan.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome and the willingness to cooperate the Ambassador assured that he would show active support in strengthening the ties between Yerevan and the cities of Iran and in the implementation of new programs, as well as will take concrete steps to assist in the establishment of cooperation between Yerevan and Tehran.
"Today there is big potential for making the established relations more practical. The programs and activities I have witnessed in Yerevan are enough to state that Yerevan is a dynamically developing city and has big perspectives for establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation. And I assure you, Mister Mayor, that within my powers I will do everything to assist in the establishment of business ties between Yerevan and Tehran", said the Ambassador.
Mayor Taron Margryan in his turn attached importance to cooperation expansion with Iranian cities, particularly in the direction of activation of investment environment, tourism development, experience exchange in various spheres of urban economy and offered to form a working group which will discuss present a complex program for cooperation expansion.
