During the special working meeting held on November 25 after the regular meeting of the Council of Elders conducted by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, the draft decision on renaming the community-owned non-commercial organization ''Yerevan youth sport school of figure skating and ice-hockey'' into ''Irina Rodnina sport school of figure skating'' was submitted to the Council of Elders.
Presenting the necessity of passing the draft decision Deputy mayor Aram Sukiasyan particularly noted that the charity foundation ''Bareketsutyun'' which is the customer of the construction of the new sport school built at Admiral Isakov avenue 27/10 requested to the Mayor mentioning that the tree-times Olympic champion, many-time world and Europe champion Irina Rodnina took direct active part in the issue of construction of the figure skating school. Besides, the draft decision is also motivated by the fact that Irina Rodnina expressed willingness to show active assistance in figure skating development in Armenia after putting the school into operation.
