Government Addresses Priority Issues in Provinces

22.10.2015

A regular Cabinet meeting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

The government adopted a decision, whereby the amount of AMD 264 million, saved by regional administrations, will be redistributed between other programs. The decision aims to implement capital repairs and other projects in order to address the welfare problems faced by the population and communities in the provinces.

The integration of displaced Syrian Armenians into the local social network remains a priority issue for the Government. Tuition reimbursement continues to be perhaps the most urgent bottleneck faced by Armenian families. To this end, AMD 24,656.0 thousand will be earmarked as partial reimbursement of tuition fees for Syrian Armenian students in 2015-2016.

The meeting adopted a decision referred to as “On privatization of residential premises held by Armenians displaced from Azerbaijan and granted citizenship of the Republic of Armenia in 1988-1992,” which aims to provide housing for refugee families living in hostels for many years. In accordance with the decision, the households domiciled in the hostel located at Abovyan Street-12 in Ararat town will have the opportunity to privatize their dwellings.

The Government approved the list of Shirak and Armavir marz residents eligible for housing. Within five days after the decision comes into force, the governors will have to sign financial assistance arrangements with the beneficiary households.

The Government established that the staff employed in budgetary institutions other than State or local government agencies shall be eligible for extra payment of AMD 8000 for working in high-mountain areas in case of full-time or part-time working hours. The decision provides that the guarantee for additional remuneration will be held as a premium for work in high-mountain areas for employees of budgetary institutions other than State or local government agencies.

The meeting decided that the Hamazgayin Theater shall be renamed after the founder, USSR and RA People’s Artist Sos Sargsyan, while “Goy” experimental theater will be renamed after its founder, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Armenia Armen Mazmanyan.
