Galust Sahakyan Receives the Delegation Led by the First Vice President of Iran

On October 15 the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received the delegation led by Eshaq Jahangiri, the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).
Welcoming the guests in the RA National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan noted: “During the whole period of history one of the pledges of the Armenian-Iranian close relations has been the culture and the caring attitude shown towards the cultural heritage. Good-neighbourly relations, anchored on the firm bases of mutual trust have been formed with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Today, without hesitation, we can document that the Armenian-Iranian relations are at high level.”
The NA President within the framework of bilateral cooperation highlighted the rise of the level of economic relations, which will give an opportunity to use the whole potential of economic cooperation. Galust Sahakyan has underlined the importance of developing and deepening of cooperation between the marzes of Armenia and states of Iran. In the NA President’s word, Armenia highly assesses the warm attitude of the IRI authorities shown towards the Armenian community, and its expressions are the care towards the Armenian historical-cultural heritage on the territory of Iran and works being done for their preservation.
In the context of political dialogue Galust Sahakyan emphasized the role of the parliamentary diplomacy, noting that the Parliamentary Friendship Groups serve as a motivating force of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries: the dialogue at parliamentary level promotes the rise of mutual recognition.
The Head of the Parliament has noted that the Armenian-Iranian cooperation boosts the regional peace and the strengthening of stability: during the conflicts and crises the authorities of Armenia and Iran have been distinguished with balanced and discreet approaches.
Galust Sahakyan expressed hope that Eshaq Jahangiri’s visit will be a new impetus for strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.
Thanking for the warm reception, the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri has noted that today the historical-cultural and political relations between the two friendly countries are at high level. According to Mr Jahangiri, its vivid example is the high ranking officials’ mutual visits. Touching upon Iran-Armenia economic cooperation, Eshaq Jahangiri has noted that for the development of economic cooperation we should work out certain programmes and use the existing potential. And the Business Forum to be held today can become the first step. Within the framework of Iran-Armenia economic cooperation the IRI First Vice President has documented that among the EEC countries Armenia is the only country that Iran has an overland road, and that fact can create good opportunities for the businessmen of the friendly countries.
Mr Jahangiri also touched upon the bloody events occurring in Syria, Yemen and Iraq, highlighting the role of the countries of the region in the prevention of extremists’ actions and re-establishment of peace. He has noted that at international instances we should make the suffering people’s voice audible.
Eshaq Jahangiri also talked about effective cooperation between the states of Iran and marzes of Armenia, stating that this can become the precondition of deeper contacts.
Underlining the role of the parliaments of the friendly countries in the development and deepening of relations, Eshaq Jahangiri expressed his gratitude at international instances for supporting Iran.
