President receives Director of RF Federal Drug Control Service, Viktor Ivanov

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Director of the RF Federal Drug Control Service, Viktor Ivanov, president of the CSTO Coordinating Council of the Member States’ Competent Authorities for Combatting Illegal Drugs, who has arrived in Armenia to take part in the 17th Session of the Coordinating Council which is also attended by representatives of CSTO member states’ partners and the CSTO Secretariat.
The president welcomed the guest and expressed the hope that the session of the Coordinating Council has succeeded: the participants have had a constructive discussion on the works which have been hitherto carried out by the relevant agencies of the CSTO member states, as well as on the opportunities to improve the mechanisms for coordination of actions and the cooperation in the given sphere.
Stressing that among the CSTO main activity areas is the coordination of the member states’ efforts in the fight against contemporary challenges and threats, President Serzh Sargsyan noted that Armenia, as a CSTO chairing country, is ready to actively support the fulfillment of CSTO problems and goals, including the combat against illegal drugs.
The interlocutors agreed that day by day, the danger of drug circulation is becoming a subject of increasing concern, and the fight against that universal evil and dangerous crime requires combination of efforts. The RA president and the director of the RF Federal Drug Control Service also attached importance to bilateral cooperation, taking into account the fact that the cooperation between the two countries’ law-enforcement bodies occupy a special place in the inclusive agenda of Armenian-Russian allied relations.
