Galust Sahakyan Receives the Delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania

On September 22 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received the Delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.
Welcoming the members of the delegation in the RA National Assembly, he has noted that the Armenian-Romanian relations, which are based on the two peoples’ centuries-old friendship, occupy an important place on the foreign political agenda of Armenia.
In the development of Armenia-Romania bilateral relations the RA NA Speaker has highlighted the role of the Armenian community of Romania which is greatly involved in the public-political life of Romania.
Galust Sahakyan also touched upon the development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, stressing the role of the Friendship Groups functioning in the parliaments of the two countries.
Talking about the cultural cooperation, the NA Speaker expressed his satisfaction at the attention being shown by the Romanian authorities towards the Romanian-Armenian cultural heritage and historical-cultural monuments.
Referring to Armenia-EU relations, the NA Speaker has documented that the cooperation with the EU, first of all, is based on the common system of values, and Armenia is intended resolute for deepening the process of the institutional reforms.
Highly appreciating the address by the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis and the message of the Committee on Human Rights, Cults and National Minorities of the Chamber of Deputies on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, Galust Sahakyan has stated that only the consolidated steps of the international community will result in the restoration of justice and the prevention of such crimes.
Talking about the NK problem, the RA NA Speaker has noted that Armenia sees the solution of the conflict within the framework of the negotiation process going on under the auspice of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, but during the recent period the Azerbaijani side frequently breaks the ceasefire regime and with that has an impact on the peaceful settlement of the problem.
Thanking for the warm reception, László Borbély, Chairperson of the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, introduced the members of the delegation. He has stated that Romania has been the first country recognizing the independence of Armenia, and their visit during these festive days is not accidental. László Borbély has documented that Romania attentively observes the developments in this region and backs the activity of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs. Referring to the Armenian Genocide László Borbély has noted that the Armenian people’s tragedy is the tragedy of the mankind, and it should be a lesson for everybody.
Mr Borbély has highly assessed the role of the Armenian community in the process of the development of Romania and has noted that the Romanian-Armenian community has a big role in the development of the Armenian-Romanian cultural ties.
In the development of the inner-state ties László Borbély has emphasized the role of the mutual visits, has noted their work in the sphere of economic cooperation between the two countries, and has opined that we should develop the relations within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
