 On September 8, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended the EAEU Intergovernmental Council meeting in Grodno (Belarus).

The prime minister-led delegation was composed as follows: Vice Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan, Deputy Minister Suren Karayan and Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan.

First, the heads of government of EAEU-member States met in a narrow format, followed by a meeting held in an expanded format. The prime ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to integration. In particular, they discussed basic directions of industrial cooperation, issues of macroeconomic and financial stability, formation of a single market for services, development of relations with foreign States and international organizations.

Concerning the agenda, Hovik Abrahamyan said in his speech that the Armenian side supported the adoption of all the proposed draft documents, which covered different areas of cooperation within the EAEU.

The Prime Minister of Armenia emphasized that our country appreciates those steps aimed at expanding and deepening industrial cooperation within the EAEU frameworks. In this context, highlighting Armenia’s wealth of expertise and capacity in the field of engineering, Hovik Abrahamyan reaffirmed our country’s readiness to provide a platform for the EAEU Engineering Center. In his remarks, the Premier stressed the importance of coordinating the exchange of know-how in macroeconomic and monetary policies.

Pointing to the importance of cooperation between the EU and the EAEU, Hovik Abrahamyan noted that considering Armenia’s long experience gained in the course of negotiations with the EU on trade and economic cooperation, Armenia might help promote a dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the EU in order to achieve mutual advantage and complementarity in integration processes.

The meeting accepted Hovik Abrahamyan’s proposal to hold the Intergovernmental Council’s next gathering in Armenia. At the end of the meeting, the heads of government of the EAEU-member States signed over a dozen instruments on interaction in the field of intellectual property, commodity marking, formation of a common services market, etc.

After the meeting, the prime ministers attended the RFID technological exhibition and visited the Karobchytsy agro-tourist complex.
