 A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

Opening the meeting, the Prime Minister advised that another document on resumption of engineering activities for the third Armenia-Iran high-voltage transmission line was signed a few days ago, which means that the process is launched and construction will start next week. Hovik Abrahamyan expressed confidence that stronger cooperation with Iran, especially in the energy sector, will contribute to a significant increase in trade turnover between the two countries.

The Head of Government instructed Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan to report on the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani borderline and the line of contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijan. The Minister assured that the Armenian side is well prepared not only for defensive, but also for preventive actions.

The Government established that the Public Services Regulatory Commission will get consulting services through Deloitte & Touche CIS CJSC. The Premier said that as a result, both the public-at-large and the Government will get answers to many questions.

The Cabinet decided to withdraw the ownership of property belonging to Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex SNCO by the Ministry of Defense and put it on sale. It was noted that the property will be alienated at the cost of an amount equivalent to USD30 million to NTAA Investment Group LTD, which has implemented an investment project.

The Company intends to purchase the Sports Complex and the surrounding area in order to develop a family-oriented recreational center, which will be the first one not only in Armenia, but also in the region.

The 400th birth anniversary of Voskan Yerevantsi features on the list of UNESCO’s landmark events in 2014-2015. The program provides a special exhibition of Voskanyan books, during which visitors will be able to see a wide range of Voskanyan publications kept in Matenadaran, as well as other libraries, museums and repositories throughout Armenia and abroad. There will be held a two-day seminar entitled “Voskan Yerevantsi: Journey through the crossroads of Armenian printing art.”
