Government Holds Cabinet Meeting

A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
Before proceeding to the agenda, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan suggested that the Commission on Protection of Economic Competition should join the Ministry of Economy and the General Department of Civil Aviation to carry out a thorough study into the domestic market of air transportations covering prices, destinations and flight conditions offered by air carriers.
Then the floor was given to Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan who reported on Nairit workers’ demands. “The Government’s promise to settle the wage arrears due to Nairit workers has been complied with: the necessary funds have already been allocated by the Government. I just cannot see the reasons behind their anxiety and the purpose of the gathering. I look forward to your clarifications,” the Prime Minister said.
Yervand Zakharyan said, “An agreement was reached with the staff that the arrears would be settled by this July 15. At this point, we can pay out that amount. The question is as follows: a number of complaints and written protests have been filed concerning wage miscalculations. Currently, studies are being conducted on wage adjustments. This may take 10-15 days, while the employees insist that payments be made immediately. To get the estimated 5 billion 310 million drams, they will have to wait for some 10-15 days. The Premier urged the Minister to clear up the situation in order to give the necessary explanations to people so that those who have no recalculation problems could get their money immediately.
The Government amended a standing decree passed on August 28, 2014, which clarifies the terms of eligibility for statutory pension provisions set out in the law “On social guarantees for public officials” in compliance with the proposed regulations.
By amending the August 18, 1997 decision on reimbursement of funeral, gravestones manufacturing and installation costs to the families of soldiers killed during army trainings and military service, the Government brings the compensation process into line with the applicable budget payments system and simplifies the process of payments for beneficiaries.
The Government earmarked AMD 4,000 thousand to the family of killed serviceman Zorik Gevorgyan in order to assist them with the purchase of housing.
The meeting decided to donate the premises occupied by 11 households domiciled in hostel buildings at Moldovakan, Shirak and Vardashen-6 streets in Yerevan. With another decision, the Government allowed 3 refugee families (deported from Azerbaijan) domiciled in Hostel N1 at Moldovakan Street of Yerevan to privatize the corresponding residential areas.
Another decision was made to extend the deadline set for the re-conversion of the administrative building located at Railroaders Street-62 in Gyumri until November 1, 2015 due to non-completion of construction work. Seven families consisting of 30members will be accommodated in the aforementioned building.
