Galust Sahakyan Receives the Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia of the PACE Monitoring Committee

On June 10 the RA NA President received Axel Fischer and Alan Mill, the Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia of the PACE Monitoring Committee. The Head of the RA NA Delegation to the PACE Hermine Naghdalyan also attended the meeting.
Welcoming the guests in the National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan has noted that in Armenia we attentively observe the PACE every document regarding Armenia, especially if it relates the assumed obligations and their fulfillment.
Highlighting the reforms going on in Armenia Galust Sahakyan has stated that at present together with the Council of Europe a new action plan for 2015-2017 is elaborated, where besides the mentioned directions, by the proposal of Armenia a cooperation is designed in other spheres.
Touching upon the process of the constitutional reforms, the Head of the Parliament has noted that in that process Armenia closely cooperates with the Venice Commission which has given a positive conclusion on the concept. The NA President has stated that the recommendations on the constitutional reforms are worked out under the public debates. Speaking about the process of the reforms in the judicial-legal sphere the Head of the Parliament has mentioned that it is implemented in consonant with the obligations of our country.
In connection with the Nagorno Karabakh the NA President has stated that the peaceful settlement of the problem is one of the most important priorities of the RA foreign policy. Galust Sahakyan has added that Armenia sees the solution of the conflict exclusively through peaceful means.
In the course of the meeting the NA President has expressed concern on the creation of the PACE Sub-Committee on frozen conflicts, as the PACE Monitoring Committee is not authorized to be engaged with the conflicts.
Talking about struggle against corruption Galust Sahakyan has noted that it is under permanent attention of the Armenian authorities: in this context the NA President has highlighted the work being done within the framework of the specialized structures of the Council of Europe, with which Armenia actively cooperates.
Thanking for the reception the guests highly assessed the work done by the RA NA Delegation to the PACE.
During the meeting the parties also discussed issues concerning the constitutional reforms.
