YEPP adopts a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide

On May 14-16 in Portugal the Youth of the European People’s Party adopted a resolution recognizing and condemning the Genocides of the Armenians, Pontic Greeks and Assyrians. The resolution was adopted during the 10th congress of YEPP.
The document particularly, runs as follows: “The youth wing of the European People’s Party urges the members of the European Union and the European Council, as well as the international organizations to recognize and restore historical reality in memory of the victims of the genocides of the Armenians, Pontic Greeks and Assyrians. All the interested sides recognize the genocides of the Armenians, Pontic Greeks and Assyrians and adopt April 24 and May 19 as the remembrance days of the Armenian Genocide and the Genocide of Pontic Greeks respectively.”
It should be noted, that more than 250 young leaders representing 40 countries participated in the 10th congress of YEPP. Among them was the Youth Organization of RPA, headed by Karen Avagyan. According to him the resolution submitted by the Greek side was adopted unanimously. The representatives of the countries, that haven’t yet recognized the Armenian Genocide, also voted in favor of the resolution.
YEPP is the largest political youth organization. It brings together 57 youth political organizations from 40 countries of Europe.
