 Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received today Syrian Arab Republic Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham.

The Prime Minister of Armenia appreciated SAR Parliament Speaker’s participation in the Armenian Genocide 100-anniversary commemorations as another evidence of the Armenian-Syrian friendship.

Hovik Abrahamyan said that the Armenian people has always felt a warm attitude on the part of Syrian authorities and expressed appreciation to the people and authorities of Syria for great attention and thoughtfulness of the needs of Syrian Armenians.

Mohammad Jihad al-Laham condemned the genocide of Armenians committed in the Ottoman Empire in 1915, noting that Syria has always supported and will stand by the Armenian people. He stressed that Syria is ready to deepen and expand cooperation to the benefit of both nations.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan expressed concern about the situation in Syria, and wished the latter peace and stability. At the same time, the Premier highlighted the importance of stronger inter-parliamentary ties and closer economic exchanges.

During the meeting, the parties discussed regional issues of mutual interest.
