 The Speaker of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan is in Saint Petersburg of the Russian Federation on a short working visit. During the visit the Speaker of the Parliament met with Valentina Matvienko, the Speaker of the RF FA Federal Council Valentina Matviyenko.

Talking about the cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries Galust Sahakyan has documented that now it is at a high level, and it is time for thinking about the implementation of the new programmes. The NA Speaker has stated that the successes recorded in all spheres of cooperation with the Russian side serve as a basis for further cooperation.

Valentina Matviyenko thanked the RA NA Speaker for personally taking part in the IPA CIS. Mrs Matviyenko has documented that stemming from the high level of the Armenian-Russian relations, the desire of making investments in the Republic of Armenia grows among the Russian businessmen: the evidence of the presence of many big Russian companies in Armenia. The Speaker of the RF FA Federal Council has also noted that within the framework of the events of the Armenian Genocide Centennial numerous events are held during these days in the Russian Federation.

Mrs Matviyenko has expressed her deep condolence in relation to the slaughter perpetrated in Gyumri and has noted that the criminals have no nationality, and the Russian soldier will be punished by the strictness of the law.

The Speaker of the RA National Assembly invited Valentina Matvieyenko to Armenia: the invitation was accepted.

The sides also discussed numerous issues regarding the Armenian-Russian cooperation and agreements were reached.
