 The Mayor of Yerevan, President of the Chess Federation of Yerevan Taron Margaryan received the delegation headed by the President of the UAE Chess Federation Said Al Meibal.
Presenting the guests the programs and the policy directed and chess popularization and development in Yerevan, Mayor Taron Margaryan pointed out that in recent years serious programs were being carried out in the capital in this direction.
“Together with the Chess Academy of Armenia we initiated a program of chess schools construction in the capital and this program is being successfully realized. Today we have chess schools in 9 administrative districts which are attended by 4000 children free of charge. And I consider it to be a big achievement in sport development; I am confident that the children attending these schools we go on upholding the honour of our country and our capital. The aim of our policy is to have chess schools in all the 12 administrative districts of the capital”, said Taron Margaryan.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome the President of the UAE Chess Federation Said Al Meibal noted that the UAE expected support from their Armenian partners in the development of this sport. Taking into account that Said Al Meibal is also a businessman, the parties also exchanged views concerning cooperation establishment in various spheres of urban economy, as well as regarding realization of joint investment projects.
