11.02.2015

On February 11 the RA NA Galust Sahakyan received Petr Mikyska, the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic. The Head of the parliament congratulated the Ambassador on the occasion of his appointment and wished success during his activity. Galust Sahakyan expressed confidence that during the implementation of the Ambassador’s mission the Armenian-Czech relations will further develop and deepen. The President of the National Assembly has assured that Armenia is concerned about developing the comprehensive cooperation with the Czech Republic, and the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Prague is the evidence of it. On the occasion of the opening of the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Armenia Galust Sahakyan underlined that it will promote the provision of the continuity of the political dialogue, the trade-economic cooperation and the activation of the human contacts. Speaking about the inter-parliamentary diplomatic relations the Head of the legislative body noted: “Today the role of the parliamentary diplomacy is rather inclusive in the world processes, as well as the role of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups in the development of the bilateral relations. With this respect we should note that the inter-parliamentary relations are at high level. At parliamentary level the dialogue can be useful for both sides in making good pictures about inner and foreign political agenda issues, in terms of supporting each other on the issues of bilateral interest in the parliamentary assemblies of the international organizations.”

Galust Sahakyan thanked the leadership of the Czech Republic for the balanced position in the Nagorno Karabakh issue.

Speaking about the cooperation with the European Union Galust Sahakyan has noted that the decision of joining the Customs Union does not mean at all suspension or weakening of the political dialogue with the European Union: the European Union has been and continues to remain one of the most important partners of the Republic of Armenia, and within the frameworks of the Eastern partnership the European rapprochement is one of the main directions of our foreign policy in the bilateral, as well as multilateral format.

Thanking for the reception the Ambassador Petr Mikyska highlighted the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the development and strengthening of the friendly countries’ relations. In terms of cooperation the Ambassador emphasized especially the economic sphere which had entered a new and more effective phase in the previous year.
