PRESIDENT RECEIVES PRESIDENT OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF EUROPEAN PUBLIC LAW ORGANIZATION

 President Serzh Sargsyan today received Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, President of the Board of Directors of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), who has arrived in Armenia to participate in the official inauguration of the organization’s new branch in Yerevan, the first and only branch in the region.

The Armenian President welcomed the guest and attached great importance to the mission within the framework of which Mr. Flogaitis has visited Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan said that the opening of the EPLO branch in Yerevan is an important event and underscored that it is also imposes a high responsibility because Armenia places great value on dealing with the issues present in that sector and on carrying out activities aimed at examining and analyzing them regularly and establishing a successful civil society sector in general.

The President underlined that our country is ready to support the EPLO to the extent possible in fulfilling its difficult and vital mission, also considering the fact that the goals pursued by the organization fully coincide with the policy adopted by Armenia: our country too advocates European values and since independence, it has been cooperating with its European partners, making considerable progress in that direction, though, in the President’s words, there are numerous issues that yet to be tackled. Serzh Sargsyan stressed that Armenia will continue in the same vein, expecting the support of its partners, including the EPLO.

Spyridon Flogaitis thanked for providing the opportunity to open an EPLO branch in Yerevan and the readiness to cooperate and was glad to state that joining the organization in 2011, Armenia filling up the ranks of more than a dozen countries. Professor Flogaitis noted that under his leadership, the organization is ready to support Armenia in implementing reforms, as well as in retraining of specialists and dealing with all professional issues. He underscored that the partnership with Armenia could serve a good example for other countries and peoples in the region.
