Galust Sahakyan Receives Jean-Francois Cherpantier

 On December 10 the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received Jean-Francois Charpentier, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Armenia. Welcoming the guest in the National Assembly the Head of the parliament congratulated him on the occasion of assuming the Ambassador’s post and wished success in the fulfillment of the mission. Galust Sahakyan has expressed that the Ambassador will promote the strengthening and development of the friendly relations between Armenia and France, and has assured that the Armenian authorities will support at best all his initiatives directed to the Armenian-French cooperation. The NA President has highly assessed the weighty role of France in the international arena, particularly, its involvement in the format of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair. Galust Sahakyan has noted that close cooperation between the two countries is also established at the inter-parliamentary level, in the development of which the friendship groups of the parliaments of Armenia and France play an important role.

Galust Sahakyan has highly appreciated the contribution of the previous ambassadors in the development and deepening of the Armenian-French relations and wished success and fruitful work to the newly appointed Ambassador.

Jean-Francois Charpentier has noted in his word that Armenian-French relations have centuries-old history, and today they are at high level. The Ambassador has documented that the political dialogue at the level of the presidents, presidents of the parliaments of the two countries, as well as the friendship groups greatly promotes the rapprochement of the relations of the friendly countries and the development of cooperation. Touching upon the French enterprises functioning in Armenia, the Ambassador has noticed that during his tenure he will try to contribute to the development of the trade-economic relations, though the cooperation has been established in the spheres of medicine, civil defence, education, etc. Talking about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict Jean-Francois Charpentier has noted that the recent incident occurred in the line of contact cannot promote the conflict settlement through negotiations. The Ambassador has noted that the Republic of France adheres to its assumed commitment solving peacefully the NK issue.

Jean-Francois Charpentier has assured Galust Sahakyan that he is ready to be loaded with the work entrusted to him in order to implement the mission of making closer the relations and cooperation between the two friendly countries.
