Work of the Next Four-day Sittings of the RA National Assembly Begins

 On December 1 the parliament began the work of the four-day sittings.

At the beginning of the sitting the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan expressed his gratitude to the two chambers of the Bolivian Parliament, the head of the country and the friendly people for the adoption of the bill on the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.

After approving the draft laws of the agendas of the sixth session of the fifth convocation and the four-day sittings the parliament by voting passed the legislative initiatives debated on the previous extraordinary sitting.

After the end of voting the parliament in the first reading continued debating the NA draft decision “On Making Reforms in the RA Electoral Code” interrupted during the previous four-day sittings, which presented the deputy Rubik Hakobyan.

The NA deputies Samvel Framanyan, Artsvik Minasyan, Tevan Poghosyan, Stepan Margaryan, Edmon Marukyan, Aram Manukyan, Elinar Vardanyan, Mikayel Melkumyan delivered speeches on the draft law.

From different factions expressed their viewpoints Heghine Bisharyan, Levon Zurabyan, Naira Zohrabyan and Hakob Hakobyan.

In his extraordinary speech the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan touched upon the provisions of the bill and the deputies’ concerns. To his assessment, in the real political processes while making recommendation we should take into consideration the expecting result. Referring to the majoritarain and proportional electoral procedures, the NA Speaker noted that the deputies should not be divided into two poles. Mr Sahakyan also highlighted the holding of free and fair elections. Galust Sahakyan has noted that the RPA is ready to cooperate and initiate joint debates for making the Electoral Code more admissible.

In his final speech Rubik Hakobyan touched upon the deputies’ concerns and highlighted the debates in terms of understanding the viewpoints of different political forces.

Then the parliament considered the treaty “On Joining the Republic of Armenia the Treaty of May 29, 2014 on the ‘Eurasian Economic Union,’” signed in Minsk on October 10, 2014 submitted by the RA Deputy Minister of Finance Suren Karayan.

19 deputies have been registered to ask questions on the treaty.

The debate of the issue will continue at December 2 sitting of the National Assembly.
