In Saint Petersburg the Speaker of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan took part in the 41st plenary session of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth Independent States (IPA CIS). At November 27 sitting the member states elected the Chair of the Council. Valentina Matviyenko was reelected Chair of the Council.

During the working visit the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan met with the Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Narishkin. In the course of the meeting the RA National Assembly presented the works going on in the direction of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The Speaker of the Parliament in his word has noted that the RA Constitutional Court has already made an endorsement, and now the processes of harmonization with the legislation go on. The Speaker of the RF State Duma expressed readiness to support in all issues promoting the friendship existing between the parliaments of the two countries.

On the same day the Speaker of the RA Parliament with Vladimir Andreychenko, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. The issues concerning the ways of the development of economic cooperation of the two countries were discussed. Talking about the economic cooperation Vladimir Andreychenko has noticed that Belarus and Armenia should more activate that, as the two countries has not still consumed the existing potential in that sphere.

Galust Sahakyan presented to his colleague of Belarus Azerbaijan’s condemning work style of keeping tense the region, the details regarding the helicopter shot down in Artsakh and expressed hope that the leadership of Belarus would show a balanced attitude over this issue.

The RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received the invitation of the Speaker of the Belarus Parliament to the Republic of Belarus.
