PRESIDENT VISITS TEMPORARY EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO SERGEI RACHMANINOFF AND FEODOR CHALIAPIN AT HOUSE-MUSEUM OF ARAM KHACHATURIAN

 President Serzh Sargsyan today held a meeting with a number of RA and RF museum directors at the House Museum of Aram Khachaturian who are taking part in a Russian-Armenian forum titled “Museums of Russia and Armenia: Dialogue of Cultures” being held in Yerevan from 21 to 23 November, as well as with the guests of the exhibition “Two Giants, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Feodor Chaliapin: A Look from the XXI Century” which has been opened with the cooperation of the two countries’ cultural executives.

The Armenian President welcomed the forum being held in Yerevan and wished it success. The aim of the forum is to highlight the role and significance of museums in the preservation of cultural heritage, discuss the contemporary challenges and achievements of the given sphere and outline opportunities and prospects for development and exchange of experience. Serzh Sargsyan attached great importance to promoting cooperation on a regular basis and listened to the projects and proposals of the participants aimed at pursuing the forum’s goals.

Later on, Serzh Sargsyan watched the temporary exhibition “Two Giants, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Feodor Chaliapin: A Look from the XXI Century” which displays previously un-shown or rarely shown 221 exhibits from Glinka State Central Museum’s collocation of S. Rachmaninoff and F. Chaliapin, including paintings, documents, manuscripts of various works, rare publications, photographs, personal and stagey things which belong to the composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff and the opera singer, actor and painter Feodor Chaliapin. These belongings reflect their whole life, activities, creative cooperation, great friendship and the crucial role and importance of their art in the development of world, especially Russian music.
