On October 30 the 25th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation of the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly was held. The NA Speaker has noted that the holding of the sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee proves the readiness of both sides to strengthen and develop the cooperation. “The traditional friendly contacts between Armenia and Russia have their centuries-old history. We highly appreciate the special importance of the federal relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. The inter-parliamentary relations between our countries serve as an important component,” said the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan.

In his word, he has noted that the Inter-Parliamentary Committee is a stable platform of development of parliamentary dialogue. In the conditions of intensification of global economic and political crisis situation the strengthening cooperation between the Eurasian zone countries will give an opportunity to effectively solve different problems. In this context the parliamentary component is important for the elaboration of the further steps concerning the integration issues.

Mr Sahakyan has assured that the RA Parliament takes continuous steps for the improvement of the legislative field, as well as in boosting the cooperation in the social, political, cultural and educational spheres. “I am sure that the activity of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on the path of the development of the ally relations between our two countries will greatly contribute to more raising the level of inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations,” said he.

Nikolay Ryzhkov congratulated Armenia on the occasion of joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and thanked the Armenian side for holding the 25th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation in Armenia at high level. He has noted that after the accession to the EEU this is the first sitting. “The 25th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries will help to discuss the further perspectives of cooperation after Armenia’s accession to the EEU. We’ll also touch upon the works directed to the elimination of obstacles on the path of economic integration, the issues connected with the harmonization of the legislations of the two countries in the EEU and the existing transport problems,” said Nikolay Ryzhkov.

He has expressed confidence that the 25th sitting of the Committee will be constructive and will stem from the national interests of the two countries.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan has noted that the problems aimed at the cooperation in the economic integration between the two countries are actively under discussion. She has mentioned that the problem of seeking the effective ways of the development of the economy is one of the most important issues nowadays.

She has also noted that Armenia’s accession to the EEU allows us avoiding a number of problems and building such a system of cooperation, which will give an opportunity to all the member countries to develop.

She has mentioned that while talking about Eurasian integration we should distinctly follow the fundamental principles. The first fundamental principle is the economic pragmatism. To her observation, the Eurasian integration is based on mutually beneficial cooperation and exchange of geopolitical ideas. The next principle is that the member countries should present their interests and positions.

At the 25th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly agenda reports were discussed, which were also directed to the accession of the EEU and the further works to be done in that field.
