RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov Meets with the Delegation of Lebanon to the Inter-Parliamentary Union

On October 14 the RA National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov being in Geneva on a working visit within the framework of the 131st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union met with the Delegation of the Republic of Lebanon to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The parties have stated that nowadays parliamentary diplomacy role is rather inclusive in the world processes, considering necessary the enlivening and deepening of parliamentary cooperation.
The NA Deputy Speaker has expressed his gratitude for the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by the Parliament of Lebanon in 2000, as well as for the balanced position of Lebanon in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Eduard Sharmazanov has touched upon the explosion of the Armenian Surp/Saint Nahatakats/Martyrs’ Church of Deir ez Zor, qualifying it as a vivid manifestation of cultural genocide. He has underlined that the explosion of the church is the logical continuation of destruction of dozens of thousands of monuments in the territory of Turkey. The Lebanese side in its turn criticized the explosion of the Armenian Church, noting that manifestation of such behaviour has no connection with Islam.
