A special meeting of the Council of Elders has taken place

 At the special meeting convened o October 8 the Council of Elders, taking into consideration the proposal of Yerevan Mayor, on the event of the 2796th anniversary of Yerevan has conferred the title of Honorary Citizen of Yerevan to a number of distinguished citizens. For the significant contribution to sphere of Armenian music the Council decided to confer the title of Honorary Citizen of Yerevan to eminent violinist, the art director of the String Quartet after Komitas, professor Edward Tadevosyan. The Council also approved of the proposal of Yerevan Mayor on conferring the mentioned title to the writer and publicist Meruzhan Ter-Gulanyan, to the chess player, international Grand Master Levon Aronyan.The Council also voted for conferring the title of Honorary Citizen of Yerevan to ecologist, professor Karine Danielyan.
The Council also approved the proposals to grant flats with property right to Honorary Citizens of Yerevan USSR and Arm SSR People’s Artist, RA “Movses Khorenatsi” and “Mesrop Mashtots” medalist Varduhi Varderesyan and the Arm SSR Honorary Art Worker, RA People’s Artist Yervand Ghazanchyan, RA Honorary Artist, “Movses Khorenatsi” medalist Evelina Shahiryan, the soloist of the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after Al. Spendiaryan Hovhannes Ayvazyan, Honorary Citizen of Gymri, taking the office of the first secretary of the Communist party of Leninakan for 9 years Donara Harutyunyan. The Council also took a decision to grant flats to mothers-heroines Hasmik Mkrtchyan and Gayaneh Grigoryan, as well as to the granddaughter of the state and military worker, sparapet Garegin Nzhdeh Esfira Trdatyan. Flats have been also granted to the families of the 1st group invalid, azatamartik Valer Arzumanyan and Karen Movsesyan died on his military guard.
