 During the solemn reception organized in the City Hall on the event of the Teachers’ Day Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the teachers of the basic schools, pre-schooling establishments and cultural centers. The RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan was also present at the event.
In his greeting speech addressed to those present Mayor Taron Margaryan congratulating the teachers on the professional festival thanked them for their contribution to education and upbringing of generations devoted to their homeland. “During its centuries-old history Armenian people has always appreciated the role of teachers in public life. And this is certainly justifies as your contribution to the issue of formation of the new generation of the citizens of our country, to education and upbringing of the youth devoted to their homeland. And you certainly do it with love and devotion. It’s not a secret that an educated society is the main condition for a developed state and an educated citizen is the firm ground for a state”, stressed the Mayor adding that more and more attention from the government and the city authorities is being paid to schools.
“I am sure that the wish and aim of each of us is to have a strong country and upbringing of an educated and competitive generation is a guarantee for it. And realizing this fact school today is at the focus of our attention and the government and the Municipality of Yerevan carry out target policy to implement educational programs in accordance with international standards and providing appropriate conditions for pupils.
I’d like to stress the achievements of our pupils who gain success not only in city and republican but also in international Olympiads all this due to you, dear teachers, due to the knowledge given by you. Any success is another step towards secured future of our country and our capital”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
The Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan in his turn congratulating the teachers thanked them for their conscientious work. The Minister also emphasized the permanent attention and systematic work of the Municipality of Yerevan in schools.
“I’d like to stress that the particular attention of the Municipality and Mayor Taron Margaryan to the system of education encourages and satisfies me as the minister of education. Thank you for the respect and appreciation, Mister Mayor, I assure you on behalf of all the employees of the sphere, that it is always highly appreciated”, said the RA Minister of Education and Science.
Afterwards, on the event of the day, on the decision of the Mayor of Yerevan a number of employees of the sphere were awarded with the medals “Honorary teacher of Yerevan”.

During the festive event the head of the department of general education of the RA Ministry of Education and Science Narineh Hovhannisyan was awarded with the gold medal of Yerevan Mayor for the significant contribution to the sphere of education.
After the official part of the reception, Mayor Taron Margaryan had a warm conversation with the teachers and congratulating them once again wished them new achievements in this important and responsible sphere.
